I have a confession to make.
I am a font junkie.
Really, I download them faster than I could ever use them. It takes me five times longer to do a project because I have to scroll through all of my fonts to find the “perfect” one! I’m only now realizing that I can do things to “manage” my fonts so they aren’t all installed all the time, taking up valuable memory and slowing down every program I try to use. (Any advice on this subject would be much appreciated, by the way).
So when we were figuring out who would do what challenge, I said, “Font challenge? YES PLEASE!” and I started my homework early. Oh, I had so much fun looking at all the fun fonts out there! It was probably bad–I downloaded so many more than I already had! And as I downloaded, I thought, “I wonder what everyone’s favorite fonts are?” BINGO! You don’t need a challenge to use MY favorite new or unusual fonts. You need a challenge where you get to see everyone ELSE’s favorite fonts on their layouts!
So your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to scrap a layout with AT LEAST two of your favorite fonts (and honey, if you can’t choose only two, be my guest–scrap your favorite hundred. That’ll be interesting, to say the least)! If you happen to remember and are feeling generous, you could let us know where you got them. My goal is to have a couple thousand more favorites by the time we’re done, so snap to it!
A reward, did you say? You want something besides the joy of falling in love with even more fonts? Well, if you insist! This week’s challenge is sponsored by two of our sunshine girls, so ten lucky winners will receive gift certificates to get scrapping stuff!!!
And to get your font love going, here are some gorgeous layouts from our Sunshine Sweeties. I want to apologize to them: I gave them the challenge to JUST do two fonts, and they made some gorgeous layouts! But when they said how difficult it was to only do two fonts, I realized that I wasn’t being greedy enough. I could have seen four or five of their favorites! I’m not making that mistake here–I want to see all the fonts I can!
Click on the pictures to head to the gallery and see what fonts these ladies used! Don’t forget, come to our forum to post your layouts so I can drool over your fonts and download them all! Good luck and have fun!
This challenge ends Friday, May 16 at Midnight EST!

Dear Adrianne
I used to have same problem with you (lose time to find the perfect font). What I do is this. I open a file in Word and I write the name of each font in lower and upper alphas. I make the size big so that I can separate the distinguish each font. The reason I use the title is that this way I can remember which font to look for. After I print that I have it next to me and use it as reference without having to scroll up and down all the time in order to find which font I want to use. Hopemy suggestion can help you.
Love
Lina

Use The Font Thing…free download and allows you to catagorize your faves into groups! Plus you can see the character map all in the same place. :D.

Not only should you use The Font Thing to organize your fonts, you should also use it to “Load” instead of “Install” your fonts. That way, when you close TFT, the temporarily loaded fonts don’t hang around in memory.

I have the Font thing and it rocks! I didn’t know about the “load” feature though. I’ll have to check that one out!

I’m interested in the whole font management thing as well. Maybe you could summarize the different ideas into a blog post.

Hi, I’m Holly, and I’m a font addict. I am seeking support but not a cure.
Are you like me and see fonts on signs, movie posters and in tv credits? I can’t read anymore… I think that’s that font and that font and ooooohh! I need that one too.
Here’s something I did when I knew the website wouldn’t support all of the fonts:

I like the AMP Font Viewer. I had trouble with some others because I am running Vista (don’t get me started!) but this one works with it no problem. Also has an option to view the installed AND uninstalled fonts. Definately a huge help. http://www.ampsoft.net/utilities/FontViewer.php

Hi!
I just love font, I’m a total font-junkie :)) I use Typograf to manage my fonts. I also keep them all on a different disk and not on my c:/windows/fonts.
